How the Government of Saskatchewan is Helping to Get Green Done
Posted by Shane Ray on
If you are a home or business owner you may be eligible to participate in the programs offered under the Saskatchewan Government’s “goGreen” energy reduction initiative. The “goGreen” program offers home and business owners reference materials, rebate incentives, and PST exemptions on select products to encourage choosing energy efficient alternatives during new and existing construction projects.
The following 3 points provide examples of the type of programs offered under this initiative:
1. Energy Efficient Rebate for New Homes
Designed to offset the upfront premiums of purchasing or building an ENERGY STAR qualified home, SaskEnergy, on behalf of the Ministry of Environment, is offering rebates for the installation of a solar hot water or geothermal system, as well as for purchasing or building an ENERGY STAR, R-2000, or EnerGuide 80 point certified home.
2. Commercial Geothermal Rebate Program
Developed by SaskPower and SRC the geothermal rebate program offers qualified businesses a 15% rebate, to a maximum of $100,000, to assist with the costs of implementing a geothermal system.
3. Funding for Research and Development Projects
The government of Saskatchewan has made a financial commitment to assist Saskatchewan residents, businesses, and communities to explore cost-effective green technologies and practices to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and get green done.
Visit the “goGreen” website for a details and eligibility criteria.
