Energy Management
Integrated Designs has been involved in energy benchmarking, auditing, and retro-commissioning for a decade. While we still provide high-value services in comparing the energy use of your facility with typical, in calculating the energy use of every system within your facility, in providing a prioritized list of recommendations for energy and operating cost reduction, and in simply tuning your facility on-site with retro-commissioning, we now also offer two energy management service packages for this century of big renewal projects, and global environment issues.
Whatever your energy concerns or facility renewal projects (big or small), Integrated Designs can provide one or a package of services to meet your needs.
Total Performance Management
Our Total Performance Management service (TPM) provides a full efficiency overhaul for existing and new projects. In a retro-commissioning initial walk-through, for example, we can sometimes correct inefficiencies before even producing a report. Whether you are creating an investment pro forma and need to assess a building’s profitability, or want to provide a top quality indoor environment for your occupants, Integrated Designs will make the project financially, environmentally, and technologically successful.
TPM offers better value to the customer than Energy Performance Contracting because it is value-based, not profit-based. Instead of replacing your building’s systems using deep pockets financing and then artificially extending the payback period as a premium on our financing structure, we apply for grants on your behalf from groups such as SaskEnergy with its boiler retrofit program, and Natural Resources Canada with its ecoENERGY program. In fact, Natural Resources Canada recognizes Integrated Designs as the most experienced energy management firm in Saskatchewan.
TPM services include:
- Energy auditing
- Energy use benchmarking
- Collaborating with maintenance and operations groups to implement retro-commissioning plans
- Designing and procuring best value building management control systems
- Arranging financing for energy management projects
- Managing project design and implementation
The retro-commissioning projects we structure can reduce energy consumption by 15%. These projects have less than half the traditional 5 year payback normally associated with Energy Performance Contracting. TPM makes it possible for the owner to take control of building balance sheets.
GHG Management Strategic Planning
Integrated Designs’ years of experience in energy management and reduction is directly related to the emerging field of greenhouse gas management and reduction. As climate change gains momentum and renewable energy becomes a financial necessity, our experience in energy management and our experience in developing greenhouse gas strategic plans for companies such as Cameco and SaskTel gives us an edge in this new field.
As stated, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions are directly related. In 2002, we helped Innovation Place develop a strategic plan to reduce energy use by 20% in 5 years. Their initial energy use was 2,580MJ/m2. Exceeding targets, they are now at 2,100MJ/m2; thus, Innovation Place is releasing significantly less greenhouse gas in the conditioning and operating of their buildings than they were before Integrated Designs’ involvement.
