Integrated Design Facilitation
Our Integrated Design Facilitation service aims to add value without increasing cost. For example, providing a better quality envelope, building orientation and fenestration can reduce the size of the mechanical systems, resulting in reduced costs and improved thermal comfort. Our analysis will recommend systems integration to ensure peak efficiency, prolonged life cycle and limited operating expenses. We use the LEED scorecard and other metrics to establish parameters and a common language for the Project Delivery Team to define and manage all sustainability objectives.
Integrated Design Facilitation services include:
- Setting sustainability objectives
- Facilitating the integrated design process
- Creating an energy simulation model
- Selecting the best mechanical and electrical systems through total life cycle cost analyses
- Supplying "lessons learned design input"
- Managing all documentation for the LEED certification process
- Hosting a luncheon to celebrate project success
This suite of services can deliver LEED Gold commercial office buildings at no additional capital cost. We have proven this in the case of the Saskatchewan Forest Center in Saskatoon’s Innovation Place Research Park, which was Saskatchewan’s first LEED building. The higher quality indoor environment, lower energy and maintenance costs, and "good corporate citizen status" for the owner leads to happy tenants.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification
Integrated Designs can use LEED tools to increase the value and curb environmental costs of buildings. Many of our employees are LEED Accredited Professionals or in the process of getting accredited. Integrated Designs has actual experience in submitting LEED applications going through the whole certification process from start to finish. The LEED standards are synonymous with advanced building design, and rapidly becoming the future of the building industry. In this new field, experience is priceless. Integrated Designs is at the forefront of this revolution.
Energy Simulation Modeling (ESIM)
Integrated Designs’ team members are qualified and experienced in using NRCan’s RETScreen energy saving tool, along with EE4 and DOE building energy simulators. In the hands of an experienced professional, EE4 software calculates the energy consumption of your building and compares it to that of similar buildings to determine its compliance to Canada’s MNECB (Model National Energy Code for Buildings). This interesting measurement of design efficiency is also a key tool in earning LEED credits.
